The foundation of an innovative company lies in its technology and the underlying science. This makes technical due diligence (Tech DD) a critical step when investing in such companies. An informed investment decision is only possible when the risks and challenges of the technology are clearly understood, along with a defined strategy to address them.

Tech DD Snapshot

A fast, focused tech review for investors who want “red flags” identified quickly, or are looking for a second opinion.

How it works:

1. We have a free 30 min intro call to determine a mutual fit.
2. I sign a NDA with you which protects you as well as the startups you´re looking into.
3. You send over the pitch deck and technical material that you have.
4. I spend 4-5 h reviewing the tech, claims, feasibility, and scan for red flags.
5. Within one week, you will receive a report which includes:
   • Red/yellow/green risk rating on feasibility, defensibility, and scalability
   • Summary of potential red flags
   • My professional recommendation: proceed, pause, or dig deeper

This is a great way to gain early clarity, reduce risk, and and see how technical due diligence can strengthen your investment decisions, especially if it’s not yet part of your routine.

Complete Technical Due Diligence

My assessment will include the following five main analyses, but can be adjusted to your specific questions.

1. Detailed analysis of technology: Evaluating current maturity and uncovering potential challenges and biological or technological limitations. Analysing the R&D plan for addressing those challenges.
2. Manufacturing readiness analysis: Evaluating what is needed to reach market readiness and how long it will take. Analysis of the upscaling plan.
3. Techno-Economic-Assessment: Reviewing complete financial plan to reach targeted production capacity.
4. Stability of supply chain: Reviewing supplier network, backups and crisis resilience.
5. IP strategy and defensibility: Review of IP protection strategy and patent quality

On-site visits for hands-on technical due diligence
